This milestone version offers the responsiveness you love, but with improved comfort in the sensitive areas of your foot such as the arch and toes. Whether you're running long marathons, squeezing in a speed session before sunset, or joining a spontaneous group run – it remains the established road runner you can rely on day after day.
Support: Neutral The more supportive the shoe, the more stability it provides for a natural running sensation. A combination of tailored support and strategically placed cushioning ensures a secure feel with every step. The Peg 40 is characterized by neutral support. It provides a balanced feel, whether you are striking with the heel or forefoot. It is suitable for both long and short runs and enables a smooth transition from heel to toe.
Cushioning: Medium The more cushioning you have underfoot, the softer and more comfortable the ride. The cushioning provides impact protection when your feet hit the ground. Nike React technology uses lightweight, durable foam to deliver a smooth, responsive running experience. It maintains its shape run after run, ensuring consistent comfort.
Responsiveness: High The more responsive the shoe, the more energy return you get back with every step. Whether you want to run a bit faster or with a bit less effort – responsive shoes give you a little extra bounce with each step, allowing you to get more out of your run. We've combined Nike React technology with two Zoom Air units (one in the forefoot and one in the heel), providing a springy, energized feel as you push off through your toes.
What's new on the Peg 40? We placed more foam around the collar for a better fit and increased comfort. Then we improved the lining and padding throughout to ensure an incredibly smooth fit. Comfortable fit and optimal feel The highly engineered single-layer mesh provides a pleasant feel and a comfortable fit. We reworked the midfoot strap for a more contoured fit that adapts to any arch.
Behind the Design When we came together to design the Peg 40, we literally took an inside-out approach, starting with an integrated midfoot band for a more secure but pleasant hold, as if the Peg is giving your arch a friendly, gentle hug. We wanted to make the inside of the shoe comfortable, breathable, and cozy exactly where your feet are most sensitive: at the toes, arch, and heel. We achieved this with a specially engineered circular pattern that adapts to your foot. The suede material provides a better fit without skin irritation from the first to the last run. The heel area optimizes the landing zone and enhances transition and durability. The waffle-inspired tread ensures traction on the road. An additional flex groove allows for a smooth transition.
